-၀င္ရိုး၊ဘီးစသည္ စုေပါင္းတတ္ဆင္ထားတာကို `ရထား´လို႔ေခၚသလို

ခႏၶာငါးပါး စုေပါင္းထားတာကို `သတၱ၀ါ´လုိ႔ေခၚတယ္။

-A 'carriage' is a composite of axle, wheels etc, a'being' is a composite

of the five Khandhas (aggregates of matter, sensations or feelings, perception,

volition or mental formations and consciousness).

-သီလျပည့္စံုရင္ သမာဓိ ပညာသည္ အလြယ္တကူ ျပည့္စံုနိုင္တယ္။

-If you can live a moral, blameless life (i.e. have sila), concentration(samadhi)

and wisdom (panna) are easy to obtion.

-သီလဆိုတဲ့ တံခါးပိတ္ထားရင္ ကာယဒြါရ ၀စိဒြါရမွ အကုသို္လ္ေတြ ၀င္မလာႏိုင္ဘူး။

-Your moral control (sila) can act as a closed door through which no evil can pass.

-အေျပာေကာင္းေပမဲ့ စိတ္ဓါတ္က ယုတ္ည့ံလွ်င္ ေရသဖန္းသီးမွည့္လို လူမ်ဴိးပဲျဖစ္မယ္။

-A person with a good and glib tongue, but evil of mind is like a ripe fig.

-သီလကို မွီခုိၿပီးေနရင္ မဂ္ဥာဏ္ဖိုလ္ဥာဏ္ ခ်က္ျခင္းမရေတာင္ ေထာင္က်ျခင္း၊အဖမ္းခံရျခင္း၊

အပါယ္ေလးပါး က်ေရာက္ျခင္းမွ ကင္းလြတ္ပါတယ္။

-A strict observance of the moral tenets

(sila) may not give you a shortened path to Nibbana,

but will surely make you free from being arrested,

being put in prison in this life and after death

save you from four undesirable abodes .

(the four apaya).

-အငွားေက်ာင္းေသာ ႏြားေက်ာင္းသားသည္ႏြားကို

ေက်ာင္းရေသာ္လည္း ႏြားနို႕အရသာကို မခံစားရသကဲ့သို႔ တရားမက်င့္သူသသည္

ပိဋကတ္သံုးပံုကို သင္ၾကားပိုခ် ေဟာေျပာျပသေနေသာ္လည္း မဂ္ဖိုလ္အရသာကို မခံစားရဘူး

-A paid cowherd never gets to enjoy

the milk from the cow although he looks after the cow.

So also a persom busy teaching buddha's

scriptures to the others, but not practising vipassana

himself will never enjoy the fruits of

vipassana fulfilment and contentment.

-ႏွမ္းေစ့ေလာက္ သူမ်ားအျပစ္ မၾကည့္နဲ႕၊အုန္းသီးေလာက္ ကိုယ့္အျပစ္

ျမင္ေအာင္ၾကည့္။

-Don't let yourself dwell on the faults of

others which may be as small as sesame seed.

Dwell on your own faults possibly as big as a coconut.

-သီလမရွိရင္ လက္မွတ္မပါဘဲ ရထားခုိးစီးတဲ့ လူလုိပဲ ဣေျႏၵရရ မေနနုိင္ဘူး။

A person devoid of morality is like a person riding atrain without a ticket.

He will not be able to keep himself calm and dignified.

He will always be afraid of being caught.

-သတိပ႒ာန္တရားေလးပါး မပြားမ်ားလွ်င္ သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတရားၾကာရွည္စြာမတည္ဘူး။

သတိပ႒ာန္တရားေလးပါး ပြားမ်ားလွ်င္ သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတရားၾကာရွည္စြာတည္မယ္။

-Without proper practice of the four foundation

doctrines of mindfulness (the four satipatthana),

it is impossible to keep oneself a good,

virtuous and worthy person. Only with

proper observance of the four doctrines

that religious virtue can be sustained.

-မိတ္ေကာင္းေဆြေကာင္း ဆရာသမားေကာင္းကို ေပါင္းရလို႔ရွိရင္မျဖစ္ေသးတဲ့

ကုသိုလ္တရားေတြလည္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ျဖစ္ၿပီးသား အကုသိုလ္တရားေတြလည္း

ဆုတ္ယုတ္သြားတယ္။

-A good friend or a good teacher can

encourage thoughts, words and deeds of

merit (kuso). They can even help

diminish demerit (akuso) of old.

-အျပစ္ကုိ ေဖာ္ျပၿပီး အက်ဴိးကိုလုိလားတဲ့စိတ္နဲ႕ေျပာဆိုဆံုးမတဲ့ ပုဂၢိဳလ္ဟာ

ႀကီးႀကီးငယ္ငယ္ ကိုယ့္ဆရာပါပဲ။

-Constructive criticism given by one,

whatever his age is, makes gim your mentor.

-ဟင္းတစ္စက္ လက္ႏွီးစုတ္ေပၚက်ရင္

မထူးျခားေပမယ့္ လက္ကိုင္ပ၀ါေပၚက်ရင္ေတာ့

ထင္ထင္ရွားရွားႀကီး ျဖစ္ေနတယ္။

မိမိကိုယ္ကို လက္ကိုင္ပ၀ါလုိ သေဘာထားၿပီး

သီလလံုၿခံဳေအာင္ထိနး္ပါ။

-A stain on a dirty rag is hardly noticeable;

a stain on a clean handkerchief is clearly visible.

Think of yourself as a handkerchief and protect

yourself from stains by means of good moral living (sila).
